LeoStor tiered storage technology
Tiering technology
LeoStor can mount the hard disks in the cluster storage hard disk pool to the shared directory as needed. A hard disk can only belong to one directory. The distribution of hard disks needs to follow the LeoRaid rules of the shared directory, that is, different directories can have different LeoRaid plans, distributed on more than N+M nodes, each node has at least 3 hard disks, and the storage system does not limit the number of shared directories;
Grouping scheme
The system implementation engineer needs to be familiar with the internal hard disk module of the server hardware, and need to follow the following rules to reduce the system failures that may be caused by some hardware failures. The corresponding relationship between the system hard disk and the actual hard disk indicated on the page:
- Hard disks in the same group should be allocated to different hard disk backplanes as much as possible;
- The hard disks of the same group should be allocated to different modules in the same backplane as much as possible;
- Hard disks with similar performance are divided into one group;
Grouping needs to avoid the problem of "bucket theory", which is the performance of hard disks. During implementation, the system implementation engineer should test the performance of all hard disks, and divide the hard disks with the same performance into one group. Especially for the existence of old hard disks, it is more necessary to do hard disk testing and grouping.
